Users complain about iOS 9’s Wi-Fi Assist feature burning through data

IMG_6200

i 1st read this article on friday regarding wi-fi assist clocking up data usage on a blog site , didn’t pay much attention but it seems over the days this has became a real issue for many.

SO , PLEASE please , help you family , your friends , your colleagues , the stranger beside you at a bar , your classmate ….etc etc ….to SWITCH WI-FI ASSIST OFF !

Go to Settings , Mobile Data , scroll down the page to the end and you will see the option WI-FI ASSIST. ( as shown in picture )

Some iOS users are claiming that iOS 9’s Wi-Fi Assist feature — which uses cellular data to boost browsing speed when an iPhone is connected to a poor quality wireless network — has resulted in large amounts of unforeseen data usage. The feature is automatically turned on when users update to iOS 9, and while the specifics of exactly how much data the feature uses aren’t entirely clear, users without unlimited data plans may want to turn Wi-Fi Assist off to avoid overages. The off switch is somewhat buried, located in Settings>Cellular near the very bottom of the screen, under the cellular settings for all of the apps installed on the phone.

How to Fix a ‘Slide to Upgrade’ Screen That Won’t Go Away ? iOS9

243535-640
Got several calls over the weekend regarding this problem and i’m sure many more to come .
so share this around with your friends and families to avoid any disappointment .
Always  , ALWAYS !! BACK UP YOUR DEVICES BEFORE UPGRADING TO iOS 9 .

Apple has posted instructions on how to fix a ‘Slide to Upgrade’ screen that won’t go away during the update to iOS 9 process.

When the Slide to Upgrade screen doesn’t respond, find out what to do.

Here’s the steps to resolve the problem:

Step One
Connect your iOS device to a computer that you’ve previously synced with iTunes. Then make sure iTunes is open.

Step Two
Select your device. If you don’t see it listed, force restart your device by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home button for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

Step Three
If you made an iTunes backup of your device before updating to iOS 9, restore your device from that backup. If not, you need to make a backup of your device in iTunes, then restore from that backup.

good luck .

First on our list this week is Paper, a popular sketching and diagram-making application by FiftyThree, which was just released for the iPhone last week. The application comes with various tools for drawing, annotating, taking notes, making diagrams, or even just doodling. You can even purchase FiftyThree’s special stylus if you want to make even smoother strokes and control your drawing better. You don’t need the stylus though – the app works just fine with your finger and you can use it to let out your inner artist. Check it out!

You can download Paper for free from this App Store link.

2. Adblock Browser

Next on our list this week is a Web browser called Adblock Browser, which can be used to save on data plans and prevent excessive battery drain. The application blocks ads during your Web browsing experience on your mobile device, where the small screen’s real estate is very important to the Web browsing experience. Check it out!

You can download Adblock Browser for free from this App Store link.
